Restoring HOPE & Building a Better Durham—For Everyone.
Hello.
Welcome to the official campaign home of The Campaign for Mayor Bell—growing, evolving, and always rooted in people.
This is the campaign to build a better Durham—our Durham—right here in Durham, North Carolina.
My name is Anjanée (AHN-jah-nay) Bell.
I am running to serve one Durham—as the people’s Mayor—because Durham deserves better.
I want to restore hope to the city I love and help build it better—for everyone who calls it home.
I am passionate about Durham—its identity, its people, its future.
I am deeply concerned about where we are headed.
We are at risk of losing our way—losing what makes Durham Durham—and what makes it home.
I want to prove that bold, creative, collaborative, accountable, and community-rooted leadership—grounded in truth, vision, justice, safety, and care—can build a better Durham—for everyone.
A Durham where everyone belongs.
Where no one is left behind.

I Am Rooted in a Legacy of Service—
one shaped by steady hands, hard choices, and nearly five decades of public service. My father, William V. “Bill” Bell, dedicated 47 years to Durham, North Carolina—16 of them as Mayor. I witnessed leadership firsthand. I watched decisions made not for applause, but for impact. I saw what it takes to carry both the weight and the responsibility of people’s trust. It was the best masterclass I could have received. This lived experience has shaped me, prepared me, and gives me a unique perspective few candidates have for what is next.
Now, I step forward with my own voice, my own vision, my own charge—to run my own race.
Movements Do Not Happen Overnight
Durham’s future will not be built by energy alone. It will take those who have lived through promises broken. Those who have seen change delayed and still kept showing up. Those who know what it takes to build—not just believe. I honor those who have carried the weight before me. Their wisdom is not behind us—it is part of our way forward.
Be part of the shift. Fuel what comes next.
Together—let us move this vision forward.
I am a single mother—guiding and growing three children in Durham, North Carolina—with the strength of a village behind me. I know what it means to build from the ground up—to carry the weight, hold a vision, to create something from nothing, and to push forward when every challenge says stop. I carry that same strength, courage, and determination into this campaign.
From every corner of Durham—and beyond—we are calling in all who live, learn, work, worship, serve, play, and invest here, or once called it home. Step forward. Stand with us. Help move this vision for a better Durham forward.
To win and transform Durham, we need everyone—everyone ready to build, stand in the gaps, and believe in something greater than themselves—so Durham rises stronger, together.
Will you make a contribution today to help move this vision forward?
Your contribution is more than financial support. It is a declaration that Durham deserves better. It says you believe in leadership that listens, leads, and delivers. It says you believe in a Durham where everyone belongs—and no one is left behind.
